Navy Spots – Boden, Watermelon – South Beach, White – Modcloth, Red – Topshop, Blue Spots – House of Fraser

Yes, I know, it’s February. It’s blooming freezing outside, and I’m showing you swimwear. ¬†However, during these colder months one of the queries I get from clients every year is ‘I’m off for some Winter sun, where can I get swimwear?!’ – luckily this is much less of an issue now than it used to be, when you would have to turn to expensive ‘cruise line’ collections to get out of season holiday wear. I’m not stealing away for a holiday, but I am at that most delicious part of the wedding planning process where we are looking at booking our honeymoon.¬† [Read more…]

High Waisted Bikini from South Beach

I’ve spoken about the joys of high waisted bikinis before – they nip me in at the waist, cover up my wobbly tum (no hate in calling it wobbly by the way, I love my curves!) and generally feel super comfortable but with the glam factor that you get from a bikini (plus, as I’m quite tall I generally find swimming costumes a bit short in the body and generally uncomfortable.

I had seen South Beach mentioned a couple of times on my instagram feed, but mostly in reference to work out wear or skimpy (albeit funky) swimwear with lots of cut outs that didn’t really appeal, so when they offered to send me a bikini ahead of my holiday, I was so excited to find that they had a wide range of high-waisted bottoms in really cool prints. I chose the high waist Dulcie bottoms which had a cute parasol print in blue, white and red (perfect to coordinate with my holiday capsule wardrobe!) and the Davina Bustier Top which looked like it would offer me the support I need (no triangle tops for me, but if they suit you then there’s usually a plunge option for most of the bikini styles).

It arrived in time for my hols, and I was so pleased with it. A size 16 was the perfect fit for me. The bottoms give great coverage, hitting me at my natural waist, and the top has foam cups with underwiring and a metal clasp at the back, giving great support, supplemented by the halter ties. I swam in it happily without it shifting (although to be honest it was predominantly worn for cocktail drinking whilst on a sun lounger).

More importantly, it is cute as all heck. The print is cute, the panel detailing is super flattering, and the star shaped metal beads on the end of the halter ties are a lovely detail. You can see a snap of me modelling it in Vegas below…
