Last year, you may remember, I had my first bra fitting in waaaaaay too long at Bravissimo Solihull. It was a brilliant experience, relieving the actual, physical pain that I was experiencing from wearing the wrong size bra. My only feedback was that I wished that there was a store in Birmingham, and that there were more high waisted knickers on offer. Well, guys, good news – Bravissimo have opened a fabulous new store in Birmingham City Centre, and they invited me along to take a look around, and get another fitting. Double good news – when I arrived at the stylish new store front on Cannon Street, I was greeted by these high waisted beauties in the window… [Read more…]
Ok, I think we can all agree that it’s Winter now. The clocks have gone back, and the nights are getting decidedly chilly. I’m all for gorgeous nighties, but around about now a satin chemise just won’t cut it, and I find myself turning to the comfort of pretty, cosy pyjamas. In fact, I have a bit of a tradition of buying myself a new pair once a year – no shabby flannels here (plus I always want them to look nice in present opening pics on Christmas morning!) Here are 5 of my favourites…
I am in no doubts that gorgeous lingerie is the foundation of every fabulous outfit. I’m sorry, but wearing nice knickers just puts a spring in your step!
So, I was really pleased to be asked to review a set of lingerie of my choice to celebrate the 1st Birthday of Panache’s online store, My Curves and Me. The store itself is easy to use, with a wide range of sizes. I really liked that I could search by my bra size to save me being disappointed if I spotted anything that I liked that didn’t come in my size, and once I’d selected a bra the matching knickers (sometimes in a range of shapes) were displayed below. You’ll find everything from the humble T shirt bra to lacey lovelies, like my choice, the gorgeous Andorra set, which once ordered arrived promptly.
I plumped for ‘vintage’ – a lovely nudey-blush colour that I always find really useful for going under my lighter coloured clothes, in the full cup bra, which is really supportive (I don’t get on with plunge bras!) and the short style brief (I am a big pants fan! Can’t stand it when knickers fall just below my tummy, resulting in muffin-toppage!). The set is just beautiful and makes a fabulous addition to my under-wardrobe!
Disclosure: This lingerie was given to me for review purposes as a gift from My Curves and Me to celebrate their first birthday, but all opinions remain my own.
Ok, let’s talk shapewear. Most ladies have some in their underwear arsenal, and if you don’t then you probably should have! Shapewear can be a useful addition to your wardrobe no matter what size you are, as it helps to create a smooth line under clothing – if you look back to those nipped in waists and smooth lines of vintage clothing, none of them could have been created without the right foundation.
The only problem with shapewear is, well, we just have to look to that famous scene from Bridget Jones’ diary! Shapewear and foundation underwear tends to come in one mode – sausage-skin like, and frumpy. I’m of the opinion that your underwear should always be gorgeous – just for you, it really makes a difference to how you feel! So, I was really pleasantly surprised when I was browsing the ‘new in’ at some of my fashion favourites, and spotted the shapewear range from Scandale. As the name suggests, this is shapewear that is pretty sexy!
Here are a few of my favourites:
1.Scandale Shapewear Dress in Beige – £60 from Zalando
2. Scandale Shapewear Body Suit in Black – £50 at Zalando
3. Scandale Lace Dress in Pink – £55 from Very
4. Scandale Mid Waist Pant in Navy – £30 from ASOS
5. Scandale The Skirt in Black – £40 from ASOS
Oh I do love some lovely lingerie – I always tell my styling clients to make sure that their underwear is amazing, because the right foundation under your clothes not only makes them look better, but also makes you feel amazing! For me, there’s nothing better than something a little lacy and a little vintage looking, which is why I love Boux Avenue, a brand that seems to be going from strength to strength at the moment, and opening stores all over the country.
