Time for the next post in my Autumn / Winter Colour Edit series! Every 6 months, I explore the colours that the powers that be (Pantone!) predict as the big colour trends for the season, and show you my favourite ways to wear them in the shops right now. We’ve already looked at the most on trend ways to wear Green and Orange, this season, and today we’re tackling the big one, the colour of the year 2015, Marsala!
Pantone describes this colour as…
…Interesting on its own and a wonderful contrast for other hues, PANTONE 18-1438 Marsala is a winey red-brown that adds finesse and savoir faire. Rich and robust, Marsala incorporates the warmth and richness of a tastefully fulfilling meal, while its grounding red-brown roots point to a sophisticated, natural earthiness..”
Autumn/Winter is a time when you want to snuggle up in your deepest, cosiest colours, and when most people run towards black, Marsala gives you another fabulous option. There’s a reason that it’s this year’s biggest colour! As it’s so strong and deep, those with Light colouring may struggle with it a little, easier to stick to the lighter end of this season’s palette (although, if you love a bit of drama and want to go full goth with wine-stained lips, go for it!). Of course the queens of Marsala are those with Deep colouring – feel free to wear it head to toe. It will also look amazing paired with greys and other soft neutrals on those with Soft colouring, and our redheads can warm it up with gold accessories.
Just a quick note on beauty too -when it comes to Marsala, there’s no need to stick to your wardrobe – this makes an amazing a/w lip, cheek and eye colour, or even gorgeous woven through tresses!
