Toners have fallen out of fashion in recent years – with many people thinking that they are merely there to remove the last dregs of your cleanser, and if you’ve cleansed properly then what’s the need?
There’s also the fear that a toner is just an alcohol based astringent, meant to ‘tighten pores’, but in most cases simply drying the skin out and making it feel uncomfortably taut.
Well, this is definitely not so of the new generation of toners that have arisen in the skincare world recently. I count a toner as an essential part of my routine – and this beauty from The Body Shop has become a firm favourite. In fact, I’m now on my third bottle (and a bottle lasts a while!), which for someone who likes to swap and change and try new products as much as I do is praise indeed!
I’d been looking for a hydrating toner to balance out the clarifying/exfoliating one that I’d been using. I was loving the effect of am exfoliating toner on my skin texture, but felt like it needed some extra nourishment after using it. My skin is the kind of skin that greets any sign of dehydration with a breakout, so I try to pile on the hydrating products as much as I can!
I’ve had some success with body shop products before, but hadn’t used much of their skin care since I was in my teens. I noticed that there had been quite a bit of hubbub online about their vitamin E range recently, so thought I’d pop in for a browse, which was when I noticed the Vitamin E Hydrating Toner. At £8.50, I felt it was definitely worth a go!
When you pour the toner onto a cotton pad is a fresh smelling, slightly jelly-like liquid. It feels refreshing as soon as it is swept over the face, and leaves it feeling quenched and ready for your moisturiser and serums to do its work. I’ve noticed a definite improvement in my skin since using it, and now use it morning and night, whether or not I’ve exfoliated first.
All in all, if your skin suffers from dehydration at all I’d definitely recommend it!
The Body Shop Vitamin E Hydrating Toner is available online and in shops for £8.50, but if you are a regular body shop customer it’s definitely worth getting one of their reward cards and taking advantage of their offers!
